BROWN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
The Brown Football Association (BFA) was founded in 1875 to promote intercollegiate
football as a means to kick off the school year and provide vitality on campus during the
fall semester. The first game would take place against Amherst in 1878. After 140 years
football is still being played on College Hill and the BFA continues to play a vital role in
support of the great tradition of Brown football.
Today, our membership includes players, alumni, parents, students, faculty and fans.
Under the scope of the Brown Sports Foundation the BFA assists in fundraising for
annual use and for non-budgeted special projects. The BFA provides additional support
through its mentoring and career counseling programs which have become high
priorities of Brown football. The Association also has a visible presence in the community
at large through its literacy collaborative with the Providence schools and its youth
football promotional program. The BFA generously supports the following events: BFA
Golf Classic and Kick-Off Dinner, the James Perry Radio Show, Literacy Day, Youth
Football Day and Military Appreciation Day, “Celebrate and Commit” annual fundraising
drive, Career Summit, Team Banquet, Spring Game and Cookout and the Ivy Football
Dinner.
We invite you to join us in support of Coach Perry and Brown’s championship program.
To participate simply contact me, one of our committee chairs, or the Brown Sports
Foundation. Looking forward to a great 2019 season… Go Bears !
